About me

Hi, I’m Kelly, a communications consultant helping charities and purpose-led organisations make sure their important work is heard clearly, confidently, and with care.

I’m based in the beautiful seaside town of Whitby, North Yorkshire, where I live with my family. Outside of work, you’ll usually find us outdoors — on the beach, on the moors, or in the woods — walking, playing games, or simply spending time together. I also love reading, listening to podcasts and music, and getting creative, with pottery currently a firm favourite.

Being rooted in a place and community is important to me. It shapes how I work and underpins my belief that charities are most effective when their communications reflect the people, places, and communities they exist to serve.

I studied sociology at university in Leeds and have spent my career working within the voluntary and community sector. I began at a local disability action group, where I set up and managed practical, community-led projects; from volunteering befriending services and inclusive sports activities to accessible creative groups and employability projects. That early, hands-on work grounded me in what it really takes to design and deliver services that work in the real world.

Over the past decade, I’ve worked within a local infrastructure organisation in South Tees, holding a range of roles across frontline delivery, partnership development, service management, and strategic leadership. During this time, I’ve led projects from idea to delivery, built services from the ground up, and supported communications at both service and organisational level. Most notably, I spent several years developing a communications and campaigns initiative supporting unpaid carers and the professionals working alongside them, deepening my understanding of how clear, thoughtful communications can genuinely make a difference.

This blend of hands-on experience and strategic management means I understand the pressures charities face; limited capacity, competing priorities, and the challenge of communicating consistently while doing vital work. My approach is practical, collaborative, and grounded in lived sector experience, helping organisations move away from reactive communications and towards clarity, confidence, and consistency.

Because important work deserves to be heard and I’m here to help make that happen, find out how.
